Welcome to the Royal Gorge
Your adventure playground awaits in Colorado's Arkansas River Valley, at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

Arkansas River Valley
Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort sits on 800 acres in the Arkansas River Valley, one of Colorado's most dramatic landscapes. The property occupies rolling hills covered in pinyon-juniper forests with glacier-carved rock formations, meadow land, and riparian corridors.
The Sangre de Cristo mountain range rises to the south and west, providing a backdrop visible from nearly every point on the property. The Royal Gorge and its iconic bridge are within minutes. The Arkansas River, a Gold Medal trout fishery, runs through the valley below.
Canon City sits at approximately 5,300 feet in elevation. The region averages over 300 days of sunshine per year with mild winters compared to Colorado's high mountain areas.

From Buckskin Joe to the Ranch & Resort
For decades, this land was home to Buckskin Joe, one of Colorado's most famous Old West movie sets and tourist attractions. Western film productions and hundreds of thousands of visitors passed through what is now Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort.
In 2010, billionaire Bill Koch purchased the property and dismantled the frontier town structures. The land sat largely untouched, preserving its natural features for future use.
In 2018, Ty and Anna Seufer purchased the 805-acre ranch with a vision to create a one-of-a-kind, gated eco-adventure community. The result is Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort: 152 homesites, 14 on-site activities, and a community that honors the land's Wild West heritage while building something entirely new.
