Royal Gorge Region's New Mountain Biking Trails

The Royal Gorge region is quickly establishing itself as a mountain biking destination, and Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort is at the center of the growth. New trails are being designed and built across the 800-acre property, adding to an expanding network that offers routes for every skill level.

The terrain at the Ranch & Resort is ideal for diverse trail design. Ridgelines provide flowy singletracks with panoramic views. Rocky sections near Buckskin Crags offer technical challenges. Meadow areas in Royal Meadow and the Wetlands provide gentler grades for beginners and families.

A professionally constructed bike park and pump track complements the trail network, giving riders a place to build skills close to the community hub. The pump track's flowing berms and rollers are designed for progression — younger riders develop confidence while experienced riders push their limits.

The trail system connects all five eco areas and crosses the property's restored railroad trestles toward Point Alta Vista, both a commuting corridor and a scenic ride. From the trestles, riders can access trails that lead to viewpoints overlooking the Royal Gorge.

Canon City and the surrounding area are investing in cycling infrastructure, with new trails being developed on public land that will eventually connect to the Ranch & Resort network. The vision is a regional trail system that puts this corner of Colorado on the mountain biking map alongside established destinations like Fruita and Crested Butte.
